While I Still Have Power …

At 8:45 a.m. the rain started. Elsa has arrived. Fortunately for us, we are not taking a direct hit, but we can expect flooding, high winds, and tornado warnings. I’ve been down this road many times before.

Two things are bothering me this morning: Joe Biden and the people who hate America.

My belief is that hating America should prevent anyone from getting elected to Congress. Period.

My belief is that hating America should prevent anyone from getting a place on the U.S. Olympics team. Period.

To anyone who hates America while representing America, let us give you a one-way pass to a third world country where you will not have the freedom you have in America. Period.

As for Joe Biden, his latest comments about sending people around the country to knock on doors in an attempt to vaccinate those who have not been vaccinated is something you would find in a third world country.

Joe Biden has lost touch with reality.

If anyone shows up at my door, I’m dialing 9-1-1.

Furthermore, this moronic idea of Joe’s leaves the door wide open for people pretending to be “government” employees as a way to gain access to your home. Well, maybe not you, but you know what I mean.

Again, show up at my door and I’m dialing 9-1-1. Your ass is going to jail.

Period.

Florida Hurricanes and Tropical Storms

This is Florida. This is hurricane season.

I’ve lived this life for nearly my entire life.

As we wait for updates about Elsa, predicted to hit this area on Wednesday, I’m remembering 2004.

That was the year we were hit by two hurricanes and two tropical storms. There wasn’t one place in the entire state of Florida that didn’t get pounced on that year.

It was during a tropical storm and a hurricane that my father passed away.

A tree fell on Dad’s house shortly after he had passed away. It took out the power and phone lines.

Dad’s passing took the life out of our family.

Had it not been for the kindness of friends and a few strangers, I don’t know how we would have survived that year.

As we entered September, more storms hit Florida. It seemed never-ending.

Today, I worry about flooding. The river has been known to rise so high that it spills over into the streets and neighborhoods. I’ve seen it. I’ve heard about neighbors being rescued by boat just a few blocks over.

God help us all. God protect us all.

P.S. The good news is that I got to cancel my dreaded doctor’s appointment set for tomorrow.

The End of My Rope

“I thought such awful thoughts that I cannot even say them out loud because they would make Jesus want to drink gin straight out of the cat dish.”
― Anne Lamott

I’ve been up since 3:30 a.m. Waited for the sun to come up so I could go to the “vampire” lab and get blood work done for one of the three doctors who want my blood tested every 3 or 4 or 6 months.

My veins are small. They collapse. It’s a pain for me and the person drawing my blood. This morning, the nurse had to draw blood from both arms.

I’m sick of this crap!

Next week, when I see my doctor, we are going to have a “come to Jesus meeting” about all these freakin’ office visits and lab work.

If these doctors would share with one another then we could cut the crap. But, they don’t share.

I’m telling you, this old broad is at the end of her rope.

It’s not just this lab work stuff that has me going. Other stuff, too.

Never thought I would say this, but the day I have my doctor’s appointment is the same day we might get hit by a tropical storm.

I’m pulling for the storm!
